Turn It Up.

I’m not going to lie, I was struggling to write a newsletter today…it just feels so stodgy and low energy out there. No one likes a Negative Nelly but buyer enquiry is down, mortgagee sales are up and most people that I know in business are still grumbling about the budget…a lot.

But then, a newsletter from a competitor magically arrived in my inbox. The market is turning, demand is on the rise, the smart money is buying. To use my three year old’s favourite saying “no it’s not”.

Listen I love optimism, as a career salesman that default setting has kept me going even at the hardest of times but folks…I can confirm that this market is still in complete disarray. Yes, it is positive that the RBA paused, it’s great that a deal (of sorts) has been signed with Iran but for confidence to return I think we need to see just a wee bit more. I put to you that a period of calm is what is needed before the market turns.

In her literary classic ‘Don’t pee on my leg and tell me it’s raining’ Judge Judith Sheindlin (yes Judge Judy) hammered home the point that people in society had to be accountable and whilst I don’t recommend you read it, I will gladly reference that doorstop of a book to make my point here. I call complete BS on most real estate newsletters and press going out at the moment. The general public knows the market is tricky, here’s a revolutionary thought, why not just help people navigate that?

There are some great opportunities in this market, particularly for people that have been looking to upsize but it’s pretty sketchy. Buying before you sell requires restraint and getting the right advice, not nonsensical claims that after one rate pause we are back to the races.

Speaking of races, well done to all of the volunteers and participants who made last Sunday’s 44th Mini Mos Marathon another success. Even a little rain on the parade couldn’t dampen what turned out to be another fantastic community gathering that we are so proud to be part of.

Until next week,

David Murphy
